Islamic Civilisation in Russia

“Islamic Civilisation in Russia” & “The Hermitage Corner”

“Islamic Civilisation in Russia” and “The Hermitage Corner” exhibitions are organised between the National Museum of Oman and The State Hermitage Museum of Saint Petersburg. The exhibition showcases (previously unseen) Islamic historical artefacts and everyday objects found in and around Russia from the 10th century onwards.

Inspired by the centrepiece; the Samarkand Trefoil wall panel, we recreated the panel details of the tree of life within it as patterns and visual identity for the exhibition. To enhance the understanding of the geography and language, we further created maps and panels to introduce the notable cities of the era as well as the then widely spoken- Tartar language (which was previously written in Arabic script) which some of our items had.
