The Infinity of White: Lucio Fontana and the Italian Artists of the Absolute Exhibition
Our latest masterpieces exhibition “The Infinity of White: Lucio Fontana and the Italian Artists of the Absolute” has been inaugurated at Bayt Greiza.
Introducing works of the Argentinian-Italian artist Lucio Fontana through his Spatialism art movement (1947-) and featuring works of fellow notable artists Agostino Bonalumi, Enrico Castellani, Pietro Consagra, Piero Manzoni and Paolo Scheggi, curated by Robilant+Voena Gallery. Inspired by Fontana’s "White Manifesto" (1946) announcement for a new direction of rediscovering and rethinking a new type of art that focused on leaving 2-dimensional planes of canvas onto new infinite geometrical and mechanical spatial concepts.
The presence of these masterpieces at Bayt Greiza palace in old Muscat is also a premeditate invitation to re-experience Islamic and vernacular Gulf art and architecture in its parallel pureness and abstraction.
